After just more than a year on the job, Metro General Manager John B. Catoe Jr. has earned positive reviews for tackling some of the myriad problems plaguing the country's second-busiest rail system. But many challenges lie ahead for Catoe, including:
- Improving customer service.
- Improving on-time performance.
- Finding funds for work on critical infrastructure, such as aging rail cars.
- Ensuring adequate staffing, particularly mechanics, in the face of potential mass retirements.
