Other recent additions to the Las Vegas center bar scene include:

This Story

* Liquidity, in the Luxor Las Vegas (3900 Las Vegas Blvd. S.)

The pyramid's here to stay, but Luxor has long been in the process of abandoning its interior Egyptian touches for more contemporary accoutrements. Liquidity held its soft opening on Dec. 26, when the bar replaced a former high-limit gambling area. Liquidity ups the ante for center bars with a massive water wall where images projected via fiber optics and more than 4,000 spraying nozzles pulsate with the music. Liquidity doesn't have a dance floor, but the word is you're welcome to dance wherever the spirit moves you -- tabletops, naturally, included.

No cover, open 24 hours.

* Heart Bar, in the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino (3667 Las Vegas Blvd. S.)

Planet Hollywood opened in the former location of the Aladdin in April 2007, with the Heart Bar as its go-to center bar. Smack dab in the middle of three acres of slots and tables, Heart Bar's biggest lures are the moody red glow and leather-clad go-go dancers who deliver your drinks. Again, the fact that there's no dance floor is far from inhibiting.

No cover, open 24 hours.
