Adair, Beck Lift GW Into A-10 Semifinals

Jessica Adair scored 12 points, Kimberly Beck added 11 points, 6 assists and 5 steals, and No. 13 George Washington breezed past Rhode Island, 70-43, in a quarterfinal game of the Atlantic 10 tournament last night in Philadelphia.

Whitney Allen and Sarah-Jo Lawrence each scored 10 points for the second-seeded Colonials (25-5). George Washington, which has won five in a row, will play today against the winner of last night's quarterfinal between Xavier and Saint Joseph's.

Amanda McGrew led the Rams (13-18) with nine points.

George Washington raced to a 36-17 halftime lead and pushed its advantage to 28 points in the second half.

Adair, a junior, raised her career scoring total to 995 points, five shy of becoming the 25th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.

¿ TENNESSEE 63, VANDERBILT 48: In Nashville, Candace Parker scored 17 of her 25 points in the first half to give the No. 3 Lady Vols a shot at their third Southeastern Conference tournament title in four years with a win over the No. 21 Commodores.

The victory gives the Lady Vols (29-2) a rematch in tonight's final against Louisiana State, the last team to beat them, 78-62 on Feb. 14.

Jennifer Risper had 14 points and nine rebounds for Vanderbilt (23-8), which took an early 10-point lead before losing to Tennessee for the 15th straight time.

¿ LSU 66, KENTUCKY 49: In Nashville, Sylvia Fowles had 20 points and 13 rebounds to pace the No. 7 Lady Tigers to the Southeastern Conference tournament championship game.

LSU (27-4) will make its fourth consecutive trip to the title game.

Samantha Mahoney scored 17 points for the Wildcats (15-15).

¿ STANFORD 64, OREGON STATE 41: In San Jose, Jayne Appel made all eight of her field goal tries on the way to 19 points and added 10 rebounds and four blocks to power the No. 6 Cardinal in the second round of the Pacific-10 tournament.

Kayla Pedersen added 22 points on 10-for-15 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds as Stanford (28-3) won its 16th straight game. Brittney Davis scored 18 points for the Beavers (11-19).

¿ CALIFORNIA 67, OREGON 60: Natasha Vital had 14 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds for the 10th-ranked Bears in the second round of the Pac-10 tournament in San Jose.

Devanei Hampton added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals for California (25-5), and Alexis Gray-Lawson made four free throws in the final 14.5 seconds to seal it and finished with 14 points.

Taylor Lilley scored 24 points for the Ducks (14-17).

¿ UTAH 82, UNLV 46: In Salt Lake City, Leilani Mitchell had 14 points and 13 assists to help the No. 15 Utes complete a regular season sweep of the Mountain West Conference.

Utah (27-3, 16-0) shot 50 percent and enjoyed a 45-9 rebounding edge in winning its 22nd straight game.

¿ UTEP 86, SOUTHERN MISS. 69: In Orlando, Natasha Lacy scored 25 points and Jareica Hughes added 21 to help the No. 18 Miners cruise to the Conference USA tournament title game.

The Miners, who made 33 of 60 shots in winning their 23rd in a row, play Southern Methodist today.

Texas-El Paso (27-2) went undefeated during conference play.

¿ MARIST 78, ST. PETER'S 67: Rachele Fitz had 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the 24th-ranked Red Foxes in the semifinals of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament in Albany, N.Y.

Marist (30-2) will play Iona in today's championship game.

¿ MURRAY STATE 69, E. ILLINOIS 58: In Nashville, Amber Guffey scored 27 points and Ashley Hayes added 17 to lead the Racers to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament title and their first NCAA berth.

Murray State (24-7) set a school record for wins.

¿ E. TENNESSEE STATE 75, JACKSONVILLE 72: In Nashville, Latisha Belcher had 22 points and eight rebounds in the Atlantic Sun Conference title game to lead the Buccaneers (21-11) to their first NCAA tournament berth.

¿ AMERICAN 70, COLGATE 46: Michelle Kirk and Liz Hayes scored 15 points apiece to lead the Eagles into the Patriot League tournament semifinals in West Point, N.Y.

The Eagles (18-12) advanced to face Bucknell, which beat Army, 50-47, in overtime. American led 40-15 at halftime en route to its program-record 11th consecutive victory.

Caitlin Gillard scored 19 points for the Red Raiders (1-29, 0-14).
