What Is the Hunt?

The Post Hunt is an exciting urban safari made up of brain-teasing puzzles woven into the landscape of Washington, D.C.'s Penn Quarter neighborhood. The answer to each puzzle is a number, and each number is a clue to the final "end game" puzzle. You work in teams to solve them, and the first to finish wins a trip to Florida.

When Is the Hunt?

May 18, 2008 at 12 noon.

Where is the Hunt?

The game starts and ends at City Center Lot at 10th & H Streets NW (Old Convention Center site). Puzzles will take place throughout the Penn Quarter neighborhood.

Who Can Participate?

The Hunt is a fun event for all ages -- from kids to college students to adults to the elderly. Attend alone or with a team of any size -- but remember, the prizes are for teams of four. So if you win with a team of more than four members, you'll have to duke it out amongst yourselves for the prize.

How Much Does It Cost?

Nothing -- the Hunt is a free event.

Who Came Up With This Idea?

The Hunt is the brainchild of humor columnist Dave Barry, Post Magazine columnist Gene Weingarten and Post Magazine editor Tom Shroder. The whole crazy idea started when the three worked at the Miami Herald -- the first Herald Hunt kicked off in 1984 and the annual game has been a success ever since, with thousands of devoted fans. This fan site charts the Herald Hunt's evolution -- it will give you a sense of what you're in for if you attend the first-ever Post Hunt.
