The 75th Historic Garden Week in Virginia , which features more than 250 properties, runs daily April 19-27, with dozens of individual tours ranging from the Chesapeake Bay to the Blue Ridge Mountains. Most tours include both the gardens and the homes, which represent every major architectural style found in Virginia. Each tour visits at least six properties; ticket prices range from $10 to $40 per event, which in some cases includes lunch, music and demonstrations of flower arranging. Maryland's 71st annual House & Garden Pilgrimage starts in Talbot County on April 26, then moves to Kent County on May 3, the Baltimore City area on May 4, Calvert County on May 10, Washington County on May 17 and Baltimore County on May 18. Proceeds in all cases help fund restoration projects.

TRAVEL TICKER

Travel from the District to New York for $1 (plus a 50-cent booking fee) on Bolt Bus, a budget spinoff of Greyhound with free WiFi and power outlets, during its inaugural weekend March 27-30.
