Monetary donations can be made through the American Red Cross.

Serve DC, the city's volunteer arm, also is is accepting donations at the Columbia Heights Community Center at 1480 Girard Street, N.W., from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today. For additional information call 202-727-1000.

The following items are needed:

New clothing for infants, children of all ages and adults.

New or gently used shoes.

New undergarments.

Baby formula and diapers.

New, unopened toiletries.

Seasonal garments, such as coats, hats, gloves.
