BOXING: Heavyweight Deontay Wilder and lightweight Sadam Ali qualified for the Olympics by reaching the final of the Americas Qualifier in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Wilder defeated Brazilian Rafael Lima, 6-5, on Monday night. Ali, from Brooklyn, won a third-round fight over Juan Nicolas Cuellar of Argentina. A third American, super heavyweight Michael Hunter, also made the final but must beat Cuba's Robert Alfonso Acea to ensure a trip to China.

TRAMPOLINE: The United States earned an automatic women's berth through the 2007 world championships. But the men had secured only the first alternate spot until this week, when the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) granted a slot to USA Gymnastics. The top Americans will vie for the two spots in four selection events this spring and summer.

BASEBALL: Taiwan, South Korea and Canada made the Olympic field by finishing in the top three positions at a qualifying tournament last week. China, the United States, Cuba, the Netherlands and Japan also have berths.

SOFTBALL: The United States is 11-0 and hasn't allowed a run against NCAA Division I opponents on its Bound 4 Beijing tour. The team has taken a break but resumes play today in Fullerton, Calif.

CYCLING: Results from the 2007-08 season earned automatic berths in the UCI World Track Championships March 26-30 in England for Sarah Hammer (Temecula, Calif.) for the 3-kilometer individual pursuit, Jennie Reed (Kirkland, Wash.) for the sprint and keirin, Michael Blatchford (Cypress, Calif.) in the sprint, Michael Friedman (Pittsburgh) in the scratch race and Taylor Phinney (Boulder, Colo.) for the individual pursuit.
