Outlook

After saving 21 games in 24 chances last year, Myers makes a return not only to Philadelphia's starting rotation, but as the Opening Day starter. Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman owns Myers (9 for 20, three doubles, a triple and a home run). Phillies 1B Ryan Howard hit eight homers against Washington last year, but NL MVP Jimmy Rollins hit only .220 against the Nationals. The Nationals' record in their previous three season openers

PERSONNEL DEPT.

RHP Shawn Hill flew into town Saturday night after his three-inning outing in a minor league game. "As I was throwing yesterday, it started to get a little better," Hill said of his right forearm, which has been hampered by soreness. Hill will throw four innings in a game in Viera, Fla., on Thursday, then, if the weather is warm enough, will throw five innings at Class A Potomac before making his season debut April 13 against Atlanta.

QUOTABLE

"I want to win. I want to win sooner than what a lot of people think, and I think we made a lot of strides over the last year or so. That's what you work for."

-- Manager Manny Acta
