Some Maryland cases in which fathers killed their young children last year.

Nov. 22 David P. Brockdorff, 40, killed his ex-wife, Gail L. Pumphrey, 43, and three children, David, 12, Megan, 10, and Brandon Brockdorff, 7, during a Thanksgiving custody handoff in Damascus. He then killed himself. The killings occurred after a custody battle in which Pumphrey sought a restraining order against Brockdorff.

April 3 Gerardo Roque, 35, a horse farm worker recently estranged from his girlfriend, killed their two children -- Carlos Diego Danforth, 1, and Maria Socorro Danforth, 2 -- by hanging them from tree limbs on a farm in upper Montgomery County. He then hanged himself.

March 26 Pedro Rodriguez, 28, was found hanging from a rope in his Frederick townhouse. His four children -- sisters Elsa, 9, Vanessa, 4, and Carena, 1, and their 3-year-old brother, Angel -- were found dead in their beds. His wife's remains were found in a shallow grave last month.
