Some recent steps taken by the Cuban government to liberalize policies on goods and services:

• Lifting of restrictions on personal cellphone ownership.

• Voiding of requirement that farmers buy materials from state-run stores.

• Lifting of ban on personal purchases of electronic items, including computers, video players, all sizes of televisions, pressure cookers, electric rice cookers, electric bicycles and car alarms.
