Dear Dr. Gridlock:

I have used Metro systems in western Europe and never have a problem with cellphone coverage underground, whether it is in Stockholm, Paris or Vienna (Austria).

I ride Metro but don't feel comfortable because of the lack of service underground. And I think that in emergencies, this only compounds the situation.

I seem to remember that this issue comes up in your column from time to time and that Metro says only one provider has the contract. This is so typical of Metro -- just a general lack of concern. Then Metro raises fares and continues with a lack of good service.
