Add Jared Kushner, owner of theNew York Observer, to the pool of potential suitors forNewsday, according to the Wall Street Journal. Those already reported to be interested include Rupert Murdoch and News Corp (NYSE: NWS). the Dolans and Cablevision (NYSE: CVC), and Mort Zuckerman, owner of the NY Daily News. The Tribune Co. would like to raise at least $500 million on the sale.

Kushner, a principal in the family real-estate firm Kushner Cos, acquired the weeklyObserverin 2006. His interest inNewsdayis described as "preliminary" for now; like Murdoch and Zuckerman, he likely sees some economies and synergies with the print edition. Kushner also has been spending online, buying PoliticsNJ.com and launching a 50-state political news network.
