BY THE NUMBERS
7
Left-handed hitters retired by lefty Ray King (he's faced eight). King has allowed 7 of 10 right-handed hitters to reach base.
PERSONNEL DEPT.
Closer Chad Cordero (right shoulder tendinitis) pitched one inning for Class A Potomac last night, allowing one single and striking out one. Manager Manny Acta said that if Cordero feels good today he could be activated by the weekend. . . . Wily Mo Peña (strained oblique) went 2 for 4 with a double and played five innings in left field in an extended spring training game in Florida.
QUOTABLE
"We really don't pay attention to much of that. We're happy that we have the new stadium. It's tremendous. I know that in itself says that there's going to be baseball in D.C. forever."
Manager Manny Acta, on the early-season attendance
