Pope Benedict XVI will visit Washington and New York next week. Here is his schedule:
Tuesday, 4 p.m.
Arrival at Andrews Air Force Base. Greeting by President and Mrs. Bush.
Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.
Bush and the first lady meet Benedict on the south lawn of the White House. This is only the second time that a pontiff has visited the White House. At the end of the welcoming ceremony, a private meeting is scheduled between the pope and the president.
Wednesday, 5:30 p.m.
Private prayer service and meeting with the 350 bishops of the United States at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
Thursday, 10 a.m.
Mass at Nationals Park.
Thursday, 5 p.m.
Benedict speaks to Catholic educators on the importance of Catholic education.
Thursday, 6:30 p.m.
