Virginia State Police issued a statement yesterday updating the status of the investigation into the Virginia Tech shootings. Here are some highlights:
· The probe, led by the state police and Virginia Tech police and involving Blacksburg police, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is ongoing.
· Investigators are assembling and reviewing more than 30 volumes of evidentiary and investigative reports. The transcription of more than 450 telephone calls has just been completed. Investigators are also reviewing analysis of 250 pieces of ballistic evidence from the ATF.
· Investigators are still searching for Seung Hui Cho's computer hard drive, cellphone and wallet.
· "We are still confident that Seung Hui Cho acted alone in committing these crimes," said Col. W. Steven Flaherty, state police superintendent.
