All-star forward Caron Butler was a late scratch with a right knee bruise he suffered in practice this week and aggravated during Friday's loss to Detroit. Butler, who missed his 22nd game, is listed as day-to-day but Coach Eddie Jordan said he hopes the injury will not be an ongoing issue.

"There's nothing structural wrong, there's no real swelling and it's just sore," Jordan said after last night's win over Philadelphia. "It's just one of those deals where bone hit bone and we think the pain will subside in a couple of days"

Butler missed 19 games with a left hip injury, one with sprained ankles and one with a strained hamstring. The Wizards are 9-12 without him.

Darius Songaila started in Butler's place and finished with 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting with four assists. Songaila was also on the floor when the Wizards blew the game open in the fourth quarter.

Washington Holds Tiebreaker

Last night's victory evened the season series with the 76ers at 2-2 but should the teams finish with the same overall record, the Wizards would hold a tiebreaker based on a superior conference record.

The Wizards are 28-22 against Eastern Conference opponents, while Philadelphia is 25-25.
