Officials are warning of minor traffic disruptions today as thousands are expected to attend the funeral for Bishop Samuel C. "Daddy" Madison.
The funeral begins at noon at the church's headquarters, 601 M St. NW. The city plans to shut down Sixth Street NW between N and M streets and M Street NW between Sixth and Seventh streets from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The service is expected to end about 2 p.m., with a police-escorted funeral procession afterward to Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Suitland. The procession will take Seventh Street NW to New York Avenue to southbound Interstate 395, to Pennsylvania Avenue across the Sousa Bridge to 34th Street, and finally to Suitland Parkway in Prince George's County. These roads will not be closed, but drivers could face minor delays.
