Five Things the Capitals Must Do Against the Flyers

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Make life difficult for Flyers goalie Martin Biron.

The Capitals need to create traffic in front of the net on the power play, something they have been unable to do consistently.

Give goalie Cristobal Huet more room in front.

In addition to being knocked down by the Flyers, Huet had to look through players to get a clear view of the puck.

Get Alex Ovechkin untracked.

The Flyers are not going to give Ovechkin much space, so he must either fight through it or use his linemates better.

Compete harder and more consistently.

The Capitals need to win the battles in the corners and along the boards, no easy task against the rugged Flyers.

Dumb-down the power play.

Too many passes, too much tentativeness, not enough shots, and there is virtually no one crashing the net.
