Montgomery County school and police officials said the times of events at Albert Einstein High School on April 9 are not all exact.

This Story

11:30 a.m. A group of students asks two school security employees if they heard a "bang," with one student adding that it "sounded like a gunshot that came from" a bathroom.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. The workers check the bathroom and find a hole in the wall. Security workers inform a police officer assigned to the school. The police officer eventually alerts his supervisor at a station in Wheaton.

12:30 p.m. The supervisor and a detective arrive at the school. The detective examines the hole in the bathroom.

1 p.m. A member of the security group approaches Linda Jasper, who finds Principal James Fernandez. He is told about the events for the first time.

1:10 p.m. Fernandez issues a Code Blue, which requires all students to be accounted for and under supervision.

1:20 p.m. Fernandez, after hearing comments from a detective that it appears to have been a gunshot, issues a Code Red. Staff and students are required to remain in classrooms or a secured area.

4 p.m. Teenage suspects are in custody, weapons are found in a locker, and students are released from school.
