Loretta R. Vaccarella, 81, a former executive assistant with the Central Intelligence Agency, died March 25 at her home in the Mount Vernon section of Fairfax County. She had Alzheimer's disease.
Mrs. Vaccarella was born in LaSalle, Ill., and came to Washington after high school to work at the Veterans Administration. After returning to Illinois for a few years, she moved back to Washington in 1950.
She joined the CIA in 1951 and worked in the clandestine service at the agency's headquarters and, from 1956 to 1959, in Germany. She left the agency in 1970.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in the Mount Vernon section of Fairfax and enjoyed classical music and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Frank Vaccarella of Fairfax; two sons, Francis Vaccarella of Russellville, Ky., and Donald Vaccarella of Savannah, Ga.; a sister; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
