The Washington Mystics added former George Washington guard Sarah-Jo Lawrence to their training camp roster yesterday, after holding tryouts for more than 50 free agents and undrafted college players.

Lawrence, who averaged 12.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists in her senior season at GW, had been on the Mystics' coaching staff's radar for most of her college career.

"We've seen Sarah a lot over the years," Mystics General Manager Linda Hargrove said. "We felt like we needed depth at the 2 and 3 positions heading into camp, and she's a smart player. She can knock down open threes and you notice a calmness about her play that we like."

Hargrove added that none of the players on last year's roster will attend the opening day of training camp at Trinity University on Sunday. Several Mystics players are still competing overseas, including veteran forward DeLisha Milton-Jones, who is playing in Spain and remains unsigned. Center Gillian Goring and forward Bernice Mosby are recovering from offseason knee surgery.

First-round draft pick Crystal Langhorne will also miss the first week of camp as she trains and competes with the U.S. national women's team in preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Hargrove said she expects Langhorne to join the Mystics on April 28.
