Suspended Greek national weightlifting coach Christos Iakovou resigned amid a doping probe that has led a majority of his team into court. The 60-year-old coach had been due to retire after the Beijing Olympics.

· COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Kansas State Coach Frank Martin signed a five-year contract that will keep him with the Wildcats through the 2011-12 season.

Martin will get a base salary of $180,000 with a total compensation package of $760,000, which includes TV, radio and Internet appearances, shoe and apparel sponsorships, and other services. The contract is retroactive to the 2007-08 season. . . .

Travis Ford, the coach at Massachusetts and a former guard at Kentucky, agreed to coach Oklahoma State. Ford will be introduced at a news conference today.

He will replace Sean Sutton, who resigned under pressure April 1 after leading the Cowboys to first-round NIT losses in his only two full seasons as head coach. . . .

Tyree Evans, a 6-foot-3 guard from Richmond, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play for Maryland. Evans averaged 21.1 points and 5.1 rebounds this past season at Motlow State (Tenn.) Community College.

· OBITUARY: Wally Kleine, a football standout who played defensive tackle for Notre Dame and the Washington Redskins, has died, family members said. He was 43.

Kleine died of heart failure Sunday at a Lubbock, Tex., hospital, his sister, Emily Kleine, said.
