PERSONNEL DEPT.

A CT scan of C Paul Lo Duca's right hand revealed no fracture, meaning Lo Duca won't go on the disabled list right now. Still, he said the injury -- a bruised hand that is the result of being hit by a pitch -- causes him pain when he swings the bat. "It hurts to get to the point of contact," Lo Duca said. Wil Nieves made his first appearance -- and first start -- last night. Johnny Estrada, the starter while Lo Duca is out, rested his right elbow, in which he is overcoming tendinitis.
