These are 23 (more) facts, tried and true, about the widening world of sports television:

1. Back in the day, there was just one ESPN.

2. Ahmad Rashad, Michael Jordan and Spike Lee all dress fashionably hip, but Mr. Clean was wearing an earring before any of them.

3. I recently watched the 2005 Women's Professional Billiards Association Mueller Recreational Products Great Lakes Classic from the Blue Chip Hotel & Casino in Michigan City, Ind., on ESPN Classic and, frankly, I wouldn't mind watching it again.

4. TNT's Doug Collins used the word "synergistic" the other day on an NBA telecast as casually as Alan Greenspan might utter "laissez-faire" at a Georgetown dinner party.

5. Granted, it's dangerous talking on the cellphone while driving, but is it any worse than listening to sports talk radio while driving?

6. Jimmy Kimmel said something funny the other night, so I looked outside and, sure enough, there was a blue moon.

7. I've got 150 channels, so why is it every time I turn on the tube all I can find is "Law & Order" and "SportsCenter"?

8. If Budweiser is The Great American Lager, then America needs to rethink lager.

9. I don't want to say the Weather Channel's asleep at the switch, but how come it doesn't have a "PTI"-style program debating the weather every day?

10. I have this recurring nightmare in which my TV is stuck on CNN and Larry King is interviewing himself.

11. Who knew Jeff Van Gundy would be this good on TV?
