'Work' Your Internship

Soon-to-be grads might also consider a current internship as an opportunity to seek full-time employment. "If the intern is terrific, most employers don't want to let him or her go," says Susan Heathfield, a writer for About.com's human resources section.

Ask a few co-workers if the company has a common practice of hiring former interns. Most importantly, do everything you can to prove yourself. "This means working hard, being thoughtful and creative and working well with the team," she adds.
