I can't get a handle on the current conditions in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Do you know if Chain of Craters Road is open after the recent eruption?
The 20-mile road, which winds its way down to the sea from the top of Kilauea, has been closed intermittently since an explosion in the volcano's Halemaumau Crater in March, and the entire park has been closed on certain days as well, mainly because of the detection of dangerous levels of sulfur dioxide gas.
