Superstitions go way beyond our modern local athletes. Here is a brief history of some of the more crazy habits of sports greats:
· Hall of Fame hitter Wade Boggs would eat chicken before every game, and at precisely 5:17 p.m.,
he would arrive at batting practice, where he would hit exactly 150 ground balls.
· Former Redskins coach George Allen believed his wife's rice pudding brought him luck on game days.
· Hockey's Great One, Wayne Gretzky, sprinkled baby powder on the blade of his stick.
· Michael Jordan wore University of North Carolina shorts under his Chicago Bulls shorts for good luck.
