Why Don't You Cover . . . ?

Saturday, May 3, 2008

It is unfortunate that The Post provided no coverage to the Tour de Georgia, one of the biggest bicycle races in the United States. Some of the best cyclists in the world competed, among them George Hincapie, Levi Leipheimer, Chris Horner and David Zabriskie.

These are exceptional athletes, and their efforts are celebrated around the world but ignored here.

Meantime, The Post also overlooked the Spring Classic bicycle races in Europe.

I have pointed out the lack of racing coverage to you numerous times and am disappointed and frustrated to see no improvement.

Do we still have minor league baseball in the Washington metropolitan area? You'd never know it from The Post's Sports section.

Only by going online was I able to ascertain that the Frederick Keys, Bowie Baysox, Potomac Nationals and Hagerstown Suns are still playing. Given that all four of these clubs are affiliates of either the Washington Nationals or the Baltimore Orioles, couldn't you find some room for at least some scores and, especially, game times?

Those of us for whom a major league game is prohibitively expensive find the minors an excellent alternative. A little information somewhere in the Sports section would be very helpful.

What has happened to your Stanley Cup coverage?

Just because the Washington Capitals are no longer in the playoffs does not mean that hockey fans are not interested in the remaining -- and increasingly crucial -- games. All you're giving us are short game recaps and the occasional picture. There is no analysis.

This area has hockey fans from all regions of the country. We want better coverage.
