ANAHEIM, Calif., May 2 -- Orioles right-hander Randor Bierd went on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder tendinitis on Friday after he complained of soreness. The move is retroactive to Wednesday.
Despite never before pitching above Class AA, Bierd has been productive in nine appearances with the Orioles, going 0-1 with a 2.03 ERA in 13 1/3 innings. He has been sent to the team's minor league facility in Sarasota, Fla., where he will be on the mend for at least two weeks.
"The last time after he pitched, he came in and said that he had some shoulder soreness," Orioles Manager Dave Trembley said of Bierd, who last pitched Tuesday. "He had trouble sleeping that night."
The move opened the door for Lance Cormier to make his return to the majors. Cormier bounced back from a difficult spring training, going for 1-1 with a 0.96 ERA working mostly long relief at Class AAA Norfolk.
Cormier, 27, has a career ERA of 5.98 over parts of four seasons with the Diamondbacks and Braves.

Utility player Freddie Bynum, who is trying to rebound from arthroscopic knee surgery, started a rehabilitation assignment Friday night at Class AA Bowie. Trembley said Bynum will be evaluated at shortstop. . . .
