Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex Leisure Pool

The Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex is a twofer. Its gymnastic workshops offer a safe environment for kids as old as 14. "After a day here, my boys are in an exercise-induced coma," says Jackson, the Capitol Hill mom. "They are so worn out from playing and using their motor skills. We go whenever we can."

The complex also has a huge indoor pool with fountains, water slides and a lazy river. It is suitable for children of all ages accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Open: Leisure Pool: Open this month on Sundays 11 to 5, Mondays 11 to 5:30, Tuesday-Thursday 3 to 5:30, Fridays 11 to 7, Saturdays 11 to 7:30; open June through August on Sundays 11 to 5, Monday-Thursday 11 to 5:30, Fridays 11 to 7, Saturdays 11 to 7:30. Call for information on gymnastics workshops.

Cost: Drop-in swim rates: County residents pay $5 for adults, $4 for children 12 and younger and seniors; nonresidents pay $1 more per day pass. Residents who live within 1.5 miles of the complex pay $1 less per day pass. Gymnastics workshops: Free for adults, children $6 (chaperon required).

Germantown Indoor Swim Center

Water slides for all ages are just one of the features of this 60,000-square-foot swimming facility. Young children have slides of their own, as well as water umbrellas, tumble buckets and other interactive features. Older children will enjoy the 200-foot slides that twist and turn.

Open: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 3:30 to 5:30; Saturdays 2 to 4 and 5 to 7; Sunday 1 to 3 and 4 to 6.

Cost: Montgomery County residents: adults $6, age 17 and younger $4, age 55 and older $4.50. Nonresidents: adults $7.50, age 17 and younger and age 55 and older $6.50. Annual passes available.

Olney Swim Center

At the Olney Swim Center, the leisure pool is shallow and ideal for young children to safely cruise and explore. A toddler slide, water umbrella "mushroom" and other interactive fun will enchant new swimmers. Parents will like the frequent open swim sessions.

Open: Monday-Thursday 11:30 to 2:30 and 3:30 to 5:30; Fridays 11:30 to 2:30, 3:30 to 5:30 and 7 to 9; Saturdays 2 to 4 and 5 to 7; Sundays 12 to 2 and 3 to 5.
