The eight-page program was a trip through soccer history with photos of the handsome, chisel-jawed Bradley chatting with Pele and Beckenbauer, dribbling between children at a summer camp, being carried off the field by a team, playing for English club Carlisle United and posing in uniform for Canadian and U.S. teams.

There also was a list of "Gordon-isms," including:

"See those cars on [Route] 123? Those people are driving to work. Enjoy the practice."

"Rain or shine, today is a great day for a run."

"Keep your high balls low and the long balls short."

And finally . . .

"Ever since I arrived in the States, I've been on holiday."
