Just how strong is this spurt in oil stocks? As oil prices surged to record levels again last week, oil-related companies followed right along. It has been a dandy year, if you've been holding oil and gas exploration and production companies, which are up 34 percent as of last week. Of the 142 publicly traded U.S. oil and gas companies, 75 percent have risen this year. The top performers are Pyramid Oil, up 149 percent; McMoRan Exploration, up 136 percent; Clayton Williams Energy, up 124 percent; and Westside Energy, up 126 percent.
