Well, the verdict is in.
Author, columnist, commentator and raconteur John Feinstein has announced the name of his soon-to-open restaurant: Doc's of Potomac -- named for his late mother.
Feinstein also said he would not pick up the drinks tab for readers who suggested names that made the column last week, leaving me that honor when the joint opens late next month. Why am I not surprised?
Went to the Pirates-Nats last Sunday by myself on a whim. Left Alexandria at 12:50 p.m., drove to Lot 8 at RFK, parked and took the free shuttle bus to Third and M. Walked three blocks to the ticket office outside of center field, bought a $10 seat in upper left. Arrived in time for the national anthem. Spent the afternoon in the sun, looking across to the Anacostia. To the left, a full view of the Capitol and all the development going on. Field is nice and visible -- players do not seem small or far away. Lots of interesting aspects of the park as you look around. Nats played splendidly, winning 5-2 to complete an 8-3 homestand. Fantastic ballpark, great breezes at the top since it's open. No problem with transportation. Seven-dollar sausage with everything on it, hot and good. Water fountain clean. Total cost for the day: $17. Experience: Priceless.
Tom Graves, Alexandria
The Nats should sign you up as their spokesman.

I was really bummed out by the Caps. I thought Alex Ovechkin would pull them through. The Wizards' demise was a no-brainer. Just not that good a team yet and without Gilbert Arenas should have lost Game 5. You can blame the Game 6 loss on a lot of factors. But I didn't watch. I already knew the outcome with Arenas out.
Tom Carr, Washington
Even without Arenas, the Wizards had the better team and should have won the series.

Any reason why Joe Gibbs still isn't listed on the "Hall of Stars" banner at Nationals Park? Are three Super Bowl rings not enough?
Tyler Bunch, Herndon
The Hall of Stars, created in 1980 to honor Washington's greatest sports heroes, has 80 honorees. The Hall's co-chairman, publicist Charlie Brotman, says living honorees must be present at an induction to be chosen -- an edict that clearly needs adjustment.
