But the whole affair might take on a glittering sheen if the forecast is clear, the seats are oceanfront and the film reels turn beneath a celestial ceiling.

Ocean City and Rehoboth Beach have outdoor, beach-side movies on the docket this summer. And the ticket price (free!) is perfect.

Every Monday and Friday from June 30 to Aug. 15, Ocean City will light up a screen at the beach on 27th Street with family films. The evenings will last from 7:30 to 10, with a singalong, games and crafts before the feature presentation. For a full schedule, visit http://www.ococean.com.

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society has three movies planned for its Cinema by the Surf program at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. "The Bee Movie" will screen June 26, "Hairspray" plays July 10 and "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep" is Aug. 21. Each film begins at dusk at the end of Rehoboth Avenue. Visit http://www.rehobothfilm.com.
