While high school rowing in the Northeast is currently dominated by private schools, successful Washington area programs have generally been public school programs such as Jefferson and T.C. Williams. The T.C. girls' program has been so successful that the girls' lightweight eight trophy at Stotesbury is named after Titans Coach Steven Weir. Stotesbury, the oldest and largest regatta in the country, concludes today on Philadelphia's Schuylkill River.
