Cheeky Request or Jest?

Could there be another wedding at the Bush ranch in Crawford, Tex., this time between two women? During an upcoming episode of her talk show, Ellen DeGeneres asked Jenna Bush Hager and first lady Laura Bush for permission to use the spread for her planned wedding to longtime partner Portia de Rossi."The ranch was a great place to get married," DeGeneres said. "It looked like nobody could fly over and get pictures or bother you, really." When Hager agreed, DeGeneres followed with "So, can we borrow it for our wedding?"

A smiling Hager responded, "Sure," People.com reports. The White House did not immediately offer further comment yesterday. The episode of the show was taped last week and is expected to air Wednesday.

DeGeneres announced plans to marry de Rossi, her longtime partner, following the California Supreme Court's reversal this month of a law banning gay marriage. Texas does not sanction same-sex marriage.

Last week, DeGeneres asked John McCain if he would walk her down the aisle; the presidential candidate just laughed.

In Cannes, an Angry Zhang

International film star Ziyi Zhang says she's outraged by the ignorance she's encountered while raising money to aid victims of the recent China earthquake. A group she approached at the Cannes Film Festival in France knew little about the disaster, she wrote in a Chinese-language blog entry.

"I was as angry as a madwoman. I said, 'Are you idiots? You are well-dressed people who look like you identify with society, but you don't know what's going on on Planet Earth.' It's incredible!"

The "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star has donated $144,000 to the relief effort and has secured a pledge of another $100,000 from Wendi Deng, the Chinese-born wife of Rupert Murdoch.

A Really Good Tip?

Paris Hilton accidentally left two diamond rings at her table after dining at a Glendale, Calif., restaurant with boyfriend Benji Madden, reports gossip site TMZ.com.

Jerry Minassian, manager of Carousel, confirmed that Hilton, who ordered the Mediterranean-style restaurant's appetizer platter, left the expensive-looking jewelry Saturday night and that she could come back and pick it up at any time. How much are the rings worth? "I have no idea," Minassian said.
