If indeed Willie Harris owes his career to versatility -- that's his belief -- then the previous 24 hours serve as a testament to his best asset. He started last night's game in left field. One game earlier, he'd played seven innings at second base and the final two at third base. At second, Harris was busy, with six putouts and three assists. He's also played center field and shortstop this season. He has started just 10 games this season, but he's appeared as a defensive replacement in 23 games.
BY THE NUMBERS

Days the Nationals had gone without a three-run homer before Harris hit one Friday. The team's previous three-run shot was on Sept. 11, 2007, by Justin Maxwell.
