GETTING THERE: Golf House is in Far Hills, N.J. Take Interstate 95 north to the New Jersey Turnpike and get off at Exit 10. Follow Interstate 287 north to Exit 26. Take a right on Mount Airy Road. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Lyons Road, then right onto Liberty Corner Road. Golf House is 1.8 miles ahead on your left.

USGA MUSEUM: The museum (908-234-2300, is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7.

WHERE TO GOLF: Nearby public golf courses include Flanders Valley Golf Club (81 Pleasant Hill Rd., Flanders, 973-584-5382) and Green Knoll Golf Course (587 Garretson Rd., Bridgewater, 908-722-1300).

WHERE TO STAY: I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in Somerset (250 Davidson Ave., 732-271-4555,, where my room was $170. Consider bunking at the Neighbour House Bed & Breakfast (143 W. Mill Rd., Long Valley, 908-876-3519,, which features a huge front porch and four guest rooms. Rates start at $85 a night.

WHERE TO EAT: For breakfast, try the Butler's Pantry Trackside (Route 202 south, Far Hills) across the street from the Far Hills train station. For lunch, try the grilled eggplant panini ($9.95) at Ciao , a cozy Italian cafe in the Riverwalk Village Center (665 Martinsville Rd., Basking Ridge). And for dinner, order the chicken parm ($17) at Focacceria (26 Church St.) in Liberty Corner. Ask for Table 28 so you can watch sports while you dine.
