CakeLove Founder Discusses Book

Cake connoisseur Warren Brown, the lawyer-turned-baker who owns a popular D.C. bakery and hosts a Food Network show, will sign and discuss his new book, "CakeLove: How to Bake Cakes from Scratch." Brown left his job as a lawyer in 2000 to pursue entrepreneurship and started his bakery, CakeLove, two years later. He also owns Love Cafe and hosts "Sugar Rush" on the Food Network.

In the pastry cookbook, Brown discusses making 50 cakes, including pound, butter and sponge cakes, cupcakes and various glazes, frostings, meringues and fillings. Brown will have samples of confections to tempt your sweet tooth at the book signing.

Tennis League Offers Lessons for Children

The National Junior Tennis League will begin its six-week program at seven local community centers for children ages 6 to 14 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Participants will be introduced to the sport with instruction, practice and competition.

Dates and times vary for the program, offered with the U.S. Tennis Association for Prince George's County residents only. The program costs $15.
