(HealthDay News) -- Among women who have given birth via Caesarean section, each will recover a bit differently from this major surgical procedure.

But there are common aftereffects of a C-section. Here's a list, including suggestions to help you recover, courtesy of childbirth.org:

Pain at the incision site.Uncomfortable gas.Contractions of the uterus.Significant fatigue.Any staples or stitches that need to be removed are usually taken out after about four to seven days.Try to do as little as possible, although taking a few steps beginning right after surgery is encouraged.Avoid lifting anything that weighs more than your baby.
