PERSONNEL DEPT.

Exactly one year ago yesterday, James Andrews performed surgery on pitcher Ryan Wagner's right shoulder. Yesterday, Wagner threw a 20-pitch simulated game on the mound at Nationals Park and passed a critical step in his bid to make an ahead-of-schedule recovery. Wagner, who has been on the disabled list since early May 2007, threw 20 pitches to Ronnie Belliard. Wagner is scheduled to pitch at least two more simulated games before a rehab assignment, which could come late next week.
