HOME SALES: Forty-four houses sold in the past year, including a damaged shell for $215,000 and the rest between $230,000 and $950,000, according to Dan Metcalf, an agent with Long & Foster. Fifteen condos and co-ops sold, for prices between $135,000 and $419,000.Twenty-four houses are listed for sale, at prices between $275,000 and $699,000. Four condos and co-ops are for sale, at prices between $174,900 and $408,500.

WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE: Safeway, CVS, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, the Takoma Metro station, downtown Takoma Park and Takoma's commercial strip inside the District.
