In December 2006, two outstanding Buffalo police officers were shot in the line of duty. One of the officers was left paralyzed. We called "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno to ask if he could help us with a fundraiser for this officer. When Tim Russert heard about what we were trying to do, he called to offer to speak to Mr. Leno on our behalf.

Mr. Leno had already agreed to help us, but Tim's action showed what kind of person he was. He was a man of great faith, love and compassion. Buffalo, and beyond, has lost a great friend.
