Among the leftover questions from a recent online chat was one that a lot of readers have asked me since winter: "Whatever happened to Scott Bryan, who worked as the interim chef at 2941?" An anonymous poster wrote that she and her husband had dined twice at the glamorous Falls Church restaurant during Bryan's four-month stint, which ended in January after the arrival of the permanent chef, Bertrand Chemel, and "loved" Bryan's food.

For an update, I tracked down Bryan in New York, where he keeps an apartment. The chef, 43, says he's "talking with people" at 2941 about opening his own restaurant, but "nothing is solidified." Okay, so what would his dream project be? Bryan, who won raves for his cooking at the wine-themed Veritas in Manhattan, says it wouldn't be anything high-end. Instead, he'd like to create something "contemporary and with a good wine list," but also "accessible to everyone." Stay tuned.
