Agreement Reached On Del. Wind Farm
Delmarva Power has reached a 25-year agreement to buy as much as 200 megawatts of power from a wind farm offshore of Rehoboth Beach, Del., that would be operated by Bluewater Wind.
Under the terms of the agreement being announced at a news conference in Newark, Del., Bluewater Wind could begin delivering energy to Delaware customers about 2012.
Bluewater has been seeking the state's permission to build a 150-turbine wind farm 11 miles east of Rehoboth Beach. The wind farm could produce as much as 600 megawatts, but the agreement calls for 200.
Delmarva initially lobbied to defeat the proposal, which it said would be too expensive for its customers.
