George Washington's new women's basketball coach, Mike Bozeman, took one look at the crowd assembled in the Athletic Director's club at Smith Center and said, "Team Bozeman is definitely in full effect today."

In front of several family members including his wife, daughters, mother, mother-in-law and brother, Bozeman, 41, was introduced as the eighth women's basketball in school history yesterday afternoon. He replaces Joe McKeown, who left for Northwestern earlier this month.

"This is a big moment for myself and my family," Bozeman said.

Athletic Director Jack Kvancz said Bozeman's passion as well as his head coaching experience -- albeit at the high school level -- lifted him above the other candidates.

"When you get down to the nitty-gritty, to what I had to make a decision on, [head coaching experience] plays a role," Kvancz said.

Bozeman, who spent three years as an assistant to McKeown, won't be doing much tinkering to a team that made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament round of 16.

"Defensively, it won't change a lot because [McKeown] was a mastermind on the defensive end," Bozeman said. "Offensively, that's where I think you'll see the biggest change. You'll see a more free-flowing offense."
