In the June 25 TV Column, Lisa de Moraes, writing about the week's television ratings, said the following about "a weekend's worth of Olympic-trial chick-nastics":
"Four weekend hours of chick gymnastics came in surprisingly strong, virtually on par with NBC's same telecasts four years ago, delivering 23 percent more Saturday viewers and 33 percent more Sunday viewers than NBC's earlier summer averages."
Describing one of the most demanding, competitive and exciting Olympic events as "chick-nastics" and "chick gymnastics" was disrespectful, sexist and offensive. What was her editor thinking?
