Court-Appointed Special Advocate volunteers are needed in St. Mary's and Charles counties to help provide a voice for abused or neglected juveniles in court proceedings. Greyt Expectations Greyhound Rescue, a nonprofit rescue and adoption organization specializing in finding homes for retired racing greyhounds, needs people to work with or adopt dogs. 301-373-4820 in St. Mary's, 410-326-3555 in Calvert or http://www.greytexpectations.org.

Calvert Memorial Hospital needs volunteers to help in many areas, including the patient information desk, gift shop, emergency department, urgent care centers and patient shuttle. Call Susan Stevens at 410-414-4523.

Trico Corp. needs volunteers in its Lexington Park and Waldorf offices. Donations of art supplies are also needed. Trico is an outpatient mental health and psychiatric rehabilitation clinic that provides care regardless of a client's ability to pay. Civista Medical Center needs volunteers to help throughout the week, including evenings, in many areas of the hospital, as well as at off-site facilities in Waldorf and La Plata. Training provided if needed. 301-609-4129.

Alternatives for Youth and Families needs foster parents in Southern Maryland. Call Sarah at 301-884-0312, Ext. 122.

MetroPets Online needs volunteers to promote the adoption of homeless animals and the well-being of companion animals in the Washington area. 301-873-0846 or http://www.metropets.org.

Greenwell Foundation needs volunteers for programs and special projects including gardening, office work, trail and park maintenance, summer camp, barn chores, mowing, special events and fundraising. Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland needs volunteers to help youngsters with homework, recreational activities and skill development. A background check is required.
