A police dog took a bite out of a burglary suspect yesterday in Fairfax County, and in a separate incident, two teenagers, both armed, have been arrested in connection with five burglaries in Prince William County, authorities said.
In the Fairfax incident, the suspect was found in the shower of a house on Fran Place in the Alexandria area of the county, police said.
Police said a woman heard a noise about 12:30 a.m. and spotted a pair of hands down a hallway. She left her house and called police, who went inside with a dog.
Police said Salvador Minero Chavez, 33, also of Fran Place, was arrested. After treatment for a dog bite, police said, he was taken to the Adult Detention Center and charged with burglary.
In Prince William, police said they were keeping watch in the Bull Run Mountain area Thursday after daytime break-ins this month at several houses. On Thursday, they said, they spotted two male teenagers trying to break into houses.
Police said they arrested two 17-year-olds. One had a loaded .45-caliber pistol and the other, a loaded .38-caliber gun; each had been taken in a burglary, police said.
Police said that search warrants turned up items taken in the burglaries and that the youths were being charged in five burglaries and were held pending a juvenile court hearing.
