When: 9 p.m.

Where: KeyArena, Seattle.

Records: Mystics 6-8, Storm 8-7.

Currie Rising: Even when she was a star for Duke, forward Monique Currie was known for her streaky play. But in her fourth WNBA season, Currie appears to have found her equilibrium, quietly racking up points and proving she can be the leader the Mystics need. "We've really felt her energy lately," Mystics Coach Tree Rollins said. When Currie scored 24 points in Thursday's overtime victory over Los Angeles, Rollins said "she took the game on her shoulders especially when [Alana Beard] had fouled out. I think her maturity has a lot to do with it this time around." Currie has scored at least 12 points in seven of the past nine games and is averaging a career-high 32 minutes and 13.6 points per game.

Energy Boost: The night before the Los Angeles game, Rollins told regular center Nakia Sanford she wouldn't be starting. Said Rollins, "I just had to get her in a different routine, to get her back to playing the way we knew she could play." Sanford, who recorded three points, four rebounds and five assists against the Sparks, is averaging 6.4 points per game this season, after averaging 11 points in 2007. But what's more important to Rollins is that Sanford finds her tenacity beneath the basket again. "Last year she improved so much and really settled in as a starter," Rollins said. "We just need to find a way to get her going. She came out and gave us instant energy off the bench [against Los Angeles], so perhaps that's what we'll look to do more often."
